  • Styling with Glass Bricks: Creating Distinct Interior Aesthetics with 5 Brick Types

Glass bricks are making a comeback in the interior design scene and this trend is bigger and better. With the added variety of glass bricks from smooth to textured to colour tinted ones, glass bricks combine variety with versatility to create a modern and exciting look. Whether it's for accent walls or structural decoration, let’s go through the different types of glass bricks and how they can elevate your spaces. Faceted Glass Bricks For a bold, sculptural and attention-grabbing look, pair these textured glass bricks with mixed colours, and stack them asymmetrically or you could form a graphic when stacked together. Faceted glass bricks are the most textured bricks out of all, and they show a raw and natural feeling based on its style. They resemble raw crystals or stones that are chanced upon underneath a newly discovered cave. Use them for creative spaces like galleries, feature walls and creative studios, as they can be an art sculpture that helps with immersing you in the artistic zone, and maybe give you an inspiration or two. Wave Glass Bricks Wave patterns are best at creating a retro or coastal look especially when using blue or clear or mixing these two colours to mimic water. The wave-like patterns and bubble-like interior creates the illusion that these bricks are trapping water from the sea, emphasizing the relaxing and nostalgic feeling. They blend in well in bathrooms, coastal and retro-style interiors, where the movement-focused bricks can be stacked in curved or wave-like patterns to bring out feelings of leisure. Hand-painted glass bricks that depict the ocean, sky or beach can also help enhance the coastal interior concept with its unique structure and painting. Clean Glass Bricks Fitting for a minimalistic space, clean glass bricks with clear or frosted finishes can give your space a clean and contemporary feel. Clean glass bricks are transparent, extremely clear and suits places where you want sunlight to be shined in, and it makes the room feel bigger with its glossy and reflective surface. For frosted glasses, they provide privacy while softening the light to recreate a soft and natural environment. These clean glass bricks are suitable for kitchens, corridors and office walls as it provides a sense of neatness and structure which adds to a pure modernity look. Polished Glass Bricks Polished glass bricks are ideal for spaces where many guests walk by. Glass bricks are highly durable and suitable for areas with high traffic and polished glass bricks increase this functionality with its aesthetic. Adding a sleek and modest glamour, you can use neutral or monochrome tones for your space or use mirroring to increase light reflection and get a dramatic and posh effect. You can also engrave the glass with customised patterns and motifs for an additional touch of luxuriousness for space like hotel lobbies, hallways and bathrooms. Organic Glass Bricks Combining contemporary with nature-inspired elements, organic glass bricks create a soft and earthy feel. With its rounded edges, you can choose to go for earth-toned bricks like olive, sand or sage to remind you of the natural environment. You can choose for lights to be inserted and drilled into these glass bricks, to create a brighter aesthetic with softer light. They add a hint of serenity and calmness through its colour and texture, and you can incorporate them in spaces like spa rooms, garden partitions or meditation corners. As the trend of using glass bricks returns, it is no longer just a sentimental element from the past, they are a modern, stylish and versatile solution in enhancing your spaces. Whether in bustling and busy spaces like galleries or personal areas like bathrooms, there are endless possibilities to what glass bricks can do to bring life to your space.

  • Unexpected Places to Use Glass Bricks at Home

When thinking of glass bricks, you might associate it with art sculptures and pieces. While that isn’t wrong, glass bricks are much more versatile than that. Glass bricks can be used at home to add elegance and a distinctive aesthetic. Here are three ways glass bricks can be used to transform your spaces: Kitchen Islands Kitchen islands don’t have to serve just one function. It can be a mood booster and a sculptural centrepiece that adds sophistication. When glass meets lighting, the reflective surface of the glass transforms light into a softer glow. Consider using warm lighting to give your space a warm and cozy look, and it especially adds to the mood and ambience of your living space at night. The style of stacked frosted or clear glass bricks can also add a sculptural visual to your space, turning your kitchen island into a design centrepiece. Stair Risers It’s common for stair risers to have LED lights for safety reasons, but if glass bricks are added to the mix, an ethereal look will be born. When lights behind or beneath the glass stair risers shine, it gives off an illusion of floating stairs. Apply a slip-resistant surface treatment to ensure safety while maintaining style. Finish the look by pairing this with steel or wooden elements for your stairs for a contrast and dynamic aesthetic. Bathroom Partitions While partitions are usually opaque to provide privacy, transparent or translucent glass bricks would work beautifully as partitions without compromising on privacy or lighting. Use frosted or wavy bricks to distort silhouettes while allowing light to pass through, and they are perfect for spa or resort-inspired bathrooms. Glass bricks are also moisture and heat resistant, making it a suitable material for humid and wet conditions like the bathroom. In essence, glass bricks are meant for more than just artistic sculptures. They bring structure, sophistication and creativity to your everyday lives without compromising on functionality. Step beyond traditional materials using glass bricks and expect a unique look to liven up your spaces.

  • Three Reasons Why You Should Use Glass Bricks

As retro concepts gain more popularity, glass bricks also return to become a timeless treasure. From outdoors to indoors, glass bricks are becoming interior designers’ favourite material as they produce unique reactions with light, small spaces and other textures. Here are three reasons why you should use glass bricks: Light Sculpting Glass bricks don't just exist in your space; it interacts with light to create a dynamic and natural look. Depending on the time of day and the brightness of the light, glass bricks reflect light differently, showing unique patterns that resemble the surface of water. With the changing light patterns throughout the day, glass bricks sculpt the light and adds a sense of movement and visual interest to your space. Open Layouts Using glass bricks as partition walls helps to zone out your space and yet give it a sense of spaciousness. Since glass bricks allow light to shine through, it lets light and air flow freely in your space without making the area feel too closed off. They are especially suitable for compact homes as a stylish alternative for sectioning out your areas. Textural Variety Minimalistic trends have been a fan favourite in interior design but, a downside to this trend is that it may look visually flat with minimal elements. Glass bricks add dimension to your space with its added texture in various ways depending on the type of finish and surface such as frosted, wavy or faceted surfaces. Glass bricks complement wood and concrete materials beautifully while highlighting its own patterns and structure. Glass bricks go beyond a retro sculpture or a decoration, they provide endless styles that can fit in any of your spaces. They are especially distinctive and enhance your space through sculpting light, contributing to airy layouts and adding to textural variety. Let this functional art reflect your personality and reshape your space.
