Cantonment Station View All Projects Photo Credits: CNA PROJECT INFO The installation extends along both sides of the train platform, comprising 24 UV-printed glass panels, each approximately 3.8 metres high by 1 metre wide. Abstract in nature yet continuous in composition, the design draws from the fluidity and layered distortions of water reflections, where shifting colours and textures merge into rhythmic movement. - Duxton Hotel
Stained glass was used in secular buildings during the renaissance period. It is one of the best techniques in glass art to convey history or heraldry, class and grandeur even when just using plain color play. It provides a classic and elegant design atmosphere. Synergraphic did exactly just that at the Duxton Hotel. We were commissioned to do a stained glass ceiling and wall, stained glass canopy and lift interiors including mirrors. It is one of the best techniques in glass art to convey history or heraldry, class and grandeur even when just using plain color play. It provides a classic and elegant design atmosphere. Synergraphic did exactly just that at the Duxton Hotel. We were commissioned to do a stained glass ceiling and wall, stained glass canopy and lift interiors including mirrors. aboutTheProject Concept STAINED GLASS CEILING AND WALL There was an existing stained glass panel on the ceiling (circular-shaped) when Synergraphic got on board the project. We recommended saving what could be saved of the existing panel while working on relocating the artwork and adapting it to the new ceiling size. The centre portion (the circular part) of the total original design was then preserved and was enhanced by us thru designing around it and extending its borders. We took apart the panels and restored what can be saved. After which, we designed new wall panels that qualify as good extension of the original design intent in the surrounding areas. When we designed the circular wall panels, we wanted to interpret it to go beyond flat and be more sculptural. Hence, we had to look into the detail of making it sloped. To do this, we had to interpret the design into a 3D profile, create the framework design and do a mock up in wood, send for metal fabrication and prepare the layout and numbering for fabrication of individual smaller panels. The overall artwork is a combination of basic stained glass color play, straight lines, and circular patterns, accented with vintage ornamental figures. The result is a classic renaissance interiors with an interplay of brown and red, yellow and blue color shades; with sculptural metal framework that adds dimension to the art pieces. STAINED GLASS CANOPY An opalescent glass was used for the stained glass canopy at the entrance of the hotel. This is to match the overall color scheme of the hotel. The character of the canopy already initiates the feels of historic and classic artistic feels of the hotel. conceptStory Other Case Studies otherCaseStudies
